I was once called out for “not being very Christian” in calling out and rebuking the wicked. To this I say, I am not your old-timey, don’t-let-your-hips-touch-when-you-dance, Christian. I am the new breed. And the new breed doesn’t take any shit from pieces of shit wicked.
The new Christian is not asleep and duped anymore. We are not overly polite to EVERYONE we meet, for some are wicked and it is alright to despise the wicked. Or, in modern vernacular, pieces of shit.
‘The righteous detest the dishonest; the wicked detest the upright.’
‘I hate them with the utmost hatred; They have become my enemies.’
‘Hate evil, love good.’
We are aware it is lawful to hate evil, not our neighbor. So we rebuke the wicked, always keeping the Christian ethics of love and forgiveness at the forefront.
‘But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.’
‘So watch yourselves. If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them.’
‘You shall not hate your fellow countryman in your heart; you may surely reprove your neighbor, but shall not incur sin because of him.’
We are aware that evil exists. And as we are aware, we are no longer easy prey.
‘The wicked lie in wait for the righteous, intent on putting them to death.’
‘He sits in the lurking places of the villages; In the hiding places he kills the innocent; His eyes stealthily watch for the unfortunate.’
‘The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, but the speech of the upright rescues them.’
The new Christian is a steadfast lover and romantic. Faithful to the one whose heart is in the right place.
‘My beloved spoke and said to me, “Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, come with me.’
‘How beautiful you are, my darling, How beautiful you are! Your eyes are like doves.’
The new Christian woman is strong in faith and gentle everywhere else. She is good to her man, calls him Daddy if it pleases him, and takes care of him as a good woman is wont to do.
‘An excellent wife, who can find? For her worth is far above jewels.’
‘Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.’
‘An excellent wife is the crown of her husband.’
‘For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.’
She does not need to wear slutty clothes and high heels to know she is loved and beautiful. She adorns her head, as is right, and is comfortable and lady-like in all else.
‘Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.’
‘For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head.’
The new Christian is not interested in what they are fed in mainstream media. For it is darkness. They listen to their own hearts for music and fashion and family how-to’s. They are not a part of this pathetic world.
‘You must influence them; do not let them influence you!’
‘If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.’
And we embrace the hate and the persecutions! To be hated is an honor and a blessing.
‘Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.’
‘Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.’
The new Christian is the epitome of easy-going. Obedient to all, no fear of bodily death, no cares for the possessions of this world. We are as tourists here. For this is not our home.
‘Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.’
‘Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.’
‘Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.’
Above all, the new Christian loves. With a relentless love that knows no bounds.
‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
‘If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.’
As such, we are willing to leave anything and anyone for the faith.
‘And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.’
‘If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters–yes, even their own life–such a person cannot be my disciple.’
This is the new breed. It is a tough world, and as such we are rugged in our walk of faith. As we realize the deepness of the darkness encompassing us, we are lovingly, protectively, defiant of it seeping into our lives. Careful with our hearts, as to keep the fire of love burning bright.
‘Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.’
‘Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame.’
Long live the flame.
