Like a Bird from the Fowler’s Snare

:: “The Escape” by Herman Smorenburg, 1993 ::

My awakening into the Light was ungracious, almost violent. It coincided with me losing my mind, so it is impossible to say what hellfire was real and what was of my own making. One thing is for certain, I was seen through it all by the grace of God. Even when I did not understand a thing and was tossed violently about by the winds of learning, I am here today writing this only because He saw me through. Through both my inner darkness and the darkness that has encroached all around me. ‘The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.’

‘Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.’ No, I am no longer tossed about or easy prey. My heart is heavy, but His burden is light. I have found what Jesus said to be true, ‘Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.’

All throughout the Book there are countless verses about the righteous witnessing the downfall of the wicked. This hope is what gives me strength to keep fighting the good fight. That I will live to see their downfall.

.

.

‘When the wicked thrive, so does sin, but the righteous will see their downfall.’

.

‘They have prepared a net for my steps; My soul is bowed down; They dug a pit before me; They themselves have fallen into the midst of it.’

.

‘Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by in safety.’

.

‘The righteous person is rescued from trouble, and it falls on the wicked instead.’

.

‘Evildoers will bow down in the presence of the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.’

.

‘The hope of the righteous is gladness, But the expectation of the wicked perishes.’
 .
‘So are the paths of all who forget God; And the hope of the godless will perish.’
 .
‘Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked;
for the power of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous.’
 .
‘The desire of the righteous ends only in good, but the hope of the wicked only in wrath.’
.
‘But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow wickedness, there will be wrath and anger.’
.
‘But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves. Then you will trample on the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I act,” says the LORD Almighty.’
 .

‘I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars–I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you.’

.

.

I am a child running blind. There is no other way through this darkness than by His grace. If He has seen me through thus far I have no doubts I will make it to the end. The ‘end’ being my Spiritual birth… ‘Jesus answered “Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”‘
