City Planning

I had the pleasure of seeing a new part of Austin, TX. The artistic heart of the heart of Austin, a quaint town called Lockhart. And it dawned on me. This is where the real things happen. Real things don’t happen in Hollywood, they merely recreate the real stories worth telling. The exciting things in life are right here, in small town Texas to the Live Music Capital of the World.

This inner revolution in society desperately needs to start. People need to start living their own stories instead of flocking to LA or NY to clamor over who will play the part in retelling a real life worth living.

And if Hollywood should ever find my ferris wheel life worth telling, I pray to God my body is completely devoured by worms and my soul is far at flight with the angels before the first script hits the table.

This societal inner revolution would also solve the horrific city planning problems this poor little town is under. How far can we build this insanity up or out before someone is ready for a change. This change can only come if we change, as people. If our priorities change.

In the same night, I met people who had moved 30 miles outside of town to escape rising costs as well as millionaires who invest in the most fertile properties in the city for little to no return. This is insanity.

What can we do?

Everyone just needs to slow their roll. ‘Be still and know that I am God.’ This meditation fad is a start but it helps tremendously to have something to meditate on. Like our beautiful Creator. Prayer is a sort of meditation, but one with a point to it. Communing with a higher power is a better use of sitting still than trying to suppress rising thoughts as they pop up. Send your thoughts to the heavens and see if what you ask for will not be granted. ‘The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.’ ‘Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

How beautiful. Our God is so romantic. Just believe and it will be yours.

And do not insult our Creator with your desires for a new Beemer. ‘Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. What people value highly is detestable in God’s sight.’

Pray for guidance, for strength, for clarity in your life. Pray for each other, your neighbors. Pray for our children. Above all, pray for our children, for, ‘Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.’
