Dorothy Parker

screen-shot-2017-01-12-at-7-28-14-pmOf all artists, living or dead, there is no one I would rather sit and have a drink with than this lady. I think we would be grand friends, spirit sisters.

Her pain, her humor, her love of dogs, her simple rhymes, her fixation with the sweet release of death. I hear myself so much in her work and I know her work is her. I love the “I wish I had written that” moments I have in her poetry. There are so many, but here are a chosen few.

“Whatever is, is good.”

With a little certain someone in mind.

Her start in the Algonquin Round Table reminds me vaguely of my very shy, sidelines-start in the Tonewheel Collective. Spirit sisters.
